Bayer 04 Leverkusen's record-breaking unbeaten run in the Bundesliga came to an end on Tuesday, April 27, as they were held to a 2-2 draw by VfB Stuttgart at the BayArena.
Xabi Alonso's side took the lead in the 10th minute through a stunning left-footed strike from Robert Andrich from the edge of the box. Stuttgart, however, showed great determination and equalised just before half-time through a fine header from Hiroki Ito.
Orel Mangala restored Leverkusen's lead in the 70th minute with a close-range finish, but Stuttgart once again fought back and found an equaliser through a well-worked goal finished by Atakan Karazor in the 89th minute.
The result means Leverkusen remain unbeaten in the Bundesliga this season, but their six-game winning streak is over. Stuttgart, on the other hand, secured a valuable point that lifts them to 11th place in the table.
