Phaadt Shuts Down Crew, Diamondbacks Take Opener of Four-Game Set

Diamondbacks' Phaadt Pitches a Gem, Strikes Out 10 in 7-1 Win

Merrill Kelly, who has been one of the most consistent pitchers in baseball this season, will take the mound for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.

Kelly (10-5, 3.12 ERA) is coming off a strong outing against the San Diego Padres in which he allowed just one run on four hits over seven innings. He has now allowed two or fewer runs in each of his last four starts.

The Crew will send right-hander Corbin Burnes (8-4, 2.98 ERA) to the mound. Burnes has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, and he is coming off a strong outing against the Chicago Cubs in which he allowed just one run on four hits over eight innings.

The Diamondbacks are looking to win their third straight game and take the series opener against the Crew. The Crew are looking to snap a two-game losing streak and avoid falling further behind in the NL Central.
